Mental health challenges are a normal, adaptive response to abnormal situations. Join yoga teacher and circle facilitator Kat Loose for an introduction to the topic, a safe, physical, all levels practice and a closing circle discussion. Show up as you are and be a part of the movement and conversations that have expansive potential for healing. Leave with a better understanding of these specific mental health challenges and some tools to help you and your love ones live a life that is rich, full and meaningful.

Kat Loose has trained as a yoga instructor, traditional postpartum doula and circle facilitator. She has a particular fondness for the science of neuroplasticity as well as the nervous system and is perpetually pursuing further studies in these areas along with her studies in the field of education. It was through Kat’s own mental health challenges that her yoga practice became a reliable friend, a place to return to her body and breath, escaping the painful ruminations of the mind. She is not an expert nor a therapist and it is in service to her community that she humbly offers this workshop duo.

Unpacking Emotional Triggers Workshop

In this workshop we talk about emotional triggers and how they drive our actions, often leading to negative consequences and dysfunctional behaviour. We look at the physical sensations that arise with stimulus, and identify what is truth vs what is the emotional story we attach to. Using the teachings of Gabor Mate’s Compassionate Inquiry Approach, and Somatic Therapy techniques we use the body’s wisdom and felt sense to unpack core beliefs, adaptive functions, and sub-personalities; empowering us with the tools to choose our response when we’re triggered and leading us toward emotional freedom.

Yang-into-Yin Yoga Series

Yang-into-Yin Yoga is an intelligent sequenced practice that warms up the body with ‘yang’ style postures that strengthen, invigorate & align followed by the last half of class in longer-held ‘yin’ postures for 2-5 minutes each.

Yin postures allows you to access the deeper connective tissue or fascia, and assist to re-align old patterns in the body and mind.  All experience levels are so welcome – Come as you are!
